Eco-tourism
has also become one of the important chapters added to the Indian tourism
program. For those who want to meet Mother Nature in her chaste glory
brimming with opulent bio diversity, Eco-tourism should be the whirring
word.
I was very well aware about the fact that how much Eco Tourism plays an
important role in preserving the natural environment, the jungle life and
its habitat. Its very important to keep in mind not to create any nuisance
or hindrance in the cycle of nature whether we are under taking tours on
adventures like trekking towards the unexplored and inaccessible regions,
skiing or wild life tours.
The green lands and the blue waters are the two important factors in our
natural environment, a precious treasure not to be polluted and to be
protected by the hazards created by we humans.
With almost 350 species of mammal, a couple of thousand types of Bird and
at least 30,000 kinds of insects, India stocks an unrivaled range and
variety that justify several Eco tourism travel trips.
During my wildlife and adventure tours to India I was spellbound by the
measures taken up by the tourist officers and the government to emphasis on
the Eco-friendly environment. Authorities were very particular in the
national parks about the dresses of the visitors- they told us that one
should avoid wearing bright colors on the tour and has to maintain silence
as the animals can become furious and can attack.
The guides kept on acquainting us about the customs and culture of the
natives there and advised us not to hurt or disrupt the feelings of the
locals and their culture or damage the ecology of the region in any way.
Earlier I had the feeling that only countries in the west has adopted Eco
friendly tourism on a massive scale but to my great astonishment I saw
Indian government has also taken enough measures to develop Eco Tourism in
India and it has acquire much of drive. Every brochure besides giving
information about the wildlife and the adventure tours had a separate column
on Eco Tourism.

Through
out our tours the well-educated guides kept on reminding us that one should
not pollute rivers and lakes with washing detergents and other chemicals.
They also emphasized that we should not disturb the flora and the fauna of
the wild, as it would be considered unlawful and also to use locally
available terra-cotta cups, rather plastic ones, preferably burying all
biodegradable matter. I was very particular to dispose off plastic bottles
and cold drink cans in the bins, which were installed through out the way.
Our jeep drivers were also very careful in using the loud music and horn in
particular. Definitely they must have gone under special training programs.
The signs boards were also located depicting the instructions about how to
maintain Eco friendly environment. I could feel that all the precautions and
measures taken to develop Eco Tourism in India are same what we have in our
country.
I was totally impressed that normally all the tour and travel packages were
environmental conscious with caring approach that enables man and the wilds
to live in harmony.
